A few years ago, I had the misfortune of encountering a broken heart. A few exchanges that left me discouraged, defeated, and overwhelming sad. I remember coming home from work that day and going to the grocery store to pick a up a few things for my mom. Walking around the store, I came upon a friendly old man who handed me a pretty pink carnation he picked from his garden. I’d never been given flowers before. No words- just a smile and a flower.
