"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. I found some domino game pieces from who knows where and they ended up being the perfect match with the Project Life domino journaling card. In the book of John, there is described a domino effect of salvation- starting with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

That I (Jesus) may lay down my life

So that they (others) may save their life

Acceptance- Live From It, Not For It

I’m not gonna post the whole thing but this entry is in the passage of John 4. Jesus had just embarked on His ministry in Galilee and then traveled to His hometown of Nazareth where He was rejected. The people who He grew up with. His communal “family.” They only saw Him as the son of the carpenter- nothing special and certainly not the Son of God. “Truly, I say I unto you, no prophet is acceptable in His hometown.” Now, if He based His ministry on the acceptance of the people, then He wouldn’t have gotten very far. BUT because He also said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me.” God anointed His Son and His ministry which means He accepted Him for who He was- not what he did or who liked Him.

I know a person in particular who bases their life off of the acceptance of people. They’ll buy gifts for them to win their affection. They’ll lie and make up ridiculous stories and calculations to make themselves look better than what they is. They even goes as far as to work extra jobs to make more money to spend on people who are only soaking up the benefits. They have no real friends. They have no peace in their life. I pity them. I pray for them. They don’t know what it’s like to be accepted for who they are because they don’t even know who they really are and they don’t like what they see now. Is that any way to live?!

Jesus didn’t live for acceptance from other people. He was already accepted. He had an internal peace in that no matter what happened, He was already accepted. He didn’t have to earn anything. He already has God’s love and stamp of approval The BEST part?!?! He allows His children to share in that amazing bliss! We don’t have to try to earn His acceptance- we already have it under the covenant of His redeeming salvation.
