"The wise in heart are discerning." -Proverbs 16:21MATERIALS:
"And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.” -Luke 20:45-47 (ESV)Now I know this is wasn’t what the scribes looked like. And I know it technically better Illustrates the Pharisees than the scribes (Pharisees were higher up than the scribes) BUT look at that attitude 👀. And I love that it has chains with him. The I’m better than you and you need to know it attitude.
You can know the Bible upside and down and still be a heathen at heart. It’s not about what you know- it’s about WHO you know. They didn’t know Jesus. They only knew of him and that is definitely NOT the same thing. MATERIALS:
"I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands. I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah" -Psalm 143: 5-6 (ESV)I love using coloring pages for art journals! The longest time spent is coloring but you can do that anywhere at anytime. This page probably took 10 mins with a basic blue splattered background and then glued on coloring bits. All of the pieces came from different coloring pages that I pieced together.
I did tape the verse over at the top but when I when I took it off the tape ripped the text off the page (I will not be using that tape again). I printed the verse I was using on a sticker label and it worked perfect! Good reminder if that happens to you! It also works if you want to do a page layout but your idea might cover up the verse you want to use. MATERIALS: “Behold, I go forward, but he is not there, and backward, but I do not perceive him; 9 on the left hand when he is working, I do not behold him; he turns to the right hand, but I do not see him. But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold. My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside. I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food. But he is unchangeable, and who can turn him back? What he desires, that he does. For he will complete what he appoints for me, and many such things are in his mind. Therefore I am terrified at his presence; when I consider, I am in dread of him. God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me; yet I am not silenced because of the darkness, nor because thick darkness covers my face. -Job 23: 8-17 (ESV) Most seahorses are no bigger than your finger. This tiny fragile little creature is able to swim the entire blue and sometimes black ocean. Easy? With predators numerous predators and some big as submarines? Absolutely not.
It can feel the same way in the this big world. We can feel awefully small, incompetent and just plain hopeless and afraid. Sometimes we don’t feel like God is there- like we’re swimming this big ocean by ourselves. But He’s watching us every step of the way. He foresees the dangers ahead of us and steers us clear from destruction. It can also be a scary idea for us for what He has planned for us. The things He is able to do in our lives! He could give us cancer, cause us to lose limbs or bodily functions, lose loved ones and let loose enemies on us. But having fear of the unknown is not what He wants for us. That’s what the devil wants us to think. He wants us to worry. BUT GOD wants us to hope in Him! Trust in Him that He is our best lives intended for us. It’s not gonna be perfect. We might get swallowed by a whale or get stalked by an angry shark but God is ultimately in control. Take courage my friend. He is FOR us 💪🏻🙌🏻. MATERIALS:
