"When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace.
I am Yours and You are mine." -Hillsong United, Oceans

Here's an easy no-waste background you can do with any theme. All you need is some patterned junk mail envelopes- something we all have plenty of.
  • Find envelopes with patterns on the inside. Some have different colored ink like black, blue, red, or green but for this layout I only used blue inked ones.
  • Color the envelopes different shades of blue. I used whatever I had- watercolor, highlighters, ink pads, markers, alcohol ink, and even pastels.
  • Cut the envelopes into about one inch long stripes
  • Cut the edges in a wave pattern- I used the edge of stencil for mine but you can make them as wonky as you want them
  • Glue them in order of the color you want. I used spray adhesive and was able to do them all at once.
  • Go back with a marker or watercolor to darken the edges of the waves to better define the waves

#22 [His Provision] Illustrated Faith Gratitude Documented 2018

"Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like that of bdellium. The people went about and gathered it and ground it in handmills or beat it in mortars and boiled it in pots and made cakes of it. And the taste of it was like the taste of cakes baked with oil. When the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell with it." -Numbers 11:7-9 (ESV)

I didn’t mean for this to end up like a Dr. Seuss rhyme but anyway 😂
.
When the Israelites began their journey of wandering the desert for what seemed like an eternity they eventually ran out of food they carried from Egypt. They cried out to the Lord to provide food for them in a desolate place. And He did!
.
He provided manna for them. It rained down from heaven everyday in just the right amount for them. They didn’t have to worry about saving up enough for another day or how to store or it or even cook it. It was ready to eat. We can speculate like it was a bread like material that probably had all the nutrients they needed to give them strength and energy and nourishment. Pretty sweet deal right? No meal prep!
.
Well, eventually they got tired of it. It wasn’t like the food they remembered in Egypt. They wanted something better. In the middle of nowhere desert and they wanted options. What did they want, a buffet? God wasn’t happy about this. He provided exactly what they needed when they needed it and it still wasn’t good enough. They wanted meat. .
He gave them meat. Through ravens. In fact, He provided them so much meat for a whole month they had it coming out of their noses.
.
Don’t reject what God provides for you. He will always provide His children with what they need. Always. You will never go without. 🙌🏻.

Restore

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” -1 Peter 5:10 (ESV)

Restore: to bring back to a state of health, soundness, or vigor.

Isn’t it a relief to know that after all the heart ache and suffering that we have endured and are enduring and will endure that when we get to heaven that we will be restored? We will be returned to a state of rest. We will be like we would have been before sin entered in the world. Imagine a clear mind and a clear heart.

God's Credible Goodness

#5 [goodness] Illustrated Faith Gratitude Documented 2017

Picture

"And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.” -Mark 10:17-18 (ESV)

I was listening to a podcast by Lysa Terkeurst earlier this week and she made this similar statement. God does not need for everything to be good for His goodness to be credible. What does that mean? God does not your life or any part of your life or any part of anyone’s life to be (good, healthy, peaceful, prosperous etc.) for Him to BE GOOD. He is good if the world was in chaos or in perfect peace or nonexistent at all. Circumstances do not equate with the meaning of His character.

We doubt that sometimes. Why do so many bad things happen if God is good? Why does cancer and other terminal illnesses exist if God is good? Why is the world in a constant state of turmoil if God is good? It’s not because of what God DID. We’ve caused our own destruction, God just allows it. We cause our own sin, God just allows it. If God didn’t allow all the bad things to happen then we think we wouldn’t need Him would we?

Everything we do has a consequence- good or bad. We don’t get to choose our consequences but we do chose our choices.

Catch the Foxes

Picture

“Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom.” -Song of Solomon 2:15

Foxes are sneaky little things. Cute and fuzzy but also very dangerous. Around farm land they’re dangerous to crops and livestock. They inch their way in the darkest of nights. .
The same is true of things that can come in between our relationship with God. Things like lies, pride, selfishness, lust, envy, idols, other people... they steal away and gnaw at the joy and purity that is our divine relationship.

Guard your hearts and your minds. Keep the foxes away from stealing your ever blossoming divine romance of you and the Creator!
