Selah: a word intended to note as a pause to reflect. It’s a verb- something that requires action from the reader. It’s quite interesting to note where the author uses this word throughout the Psalms (also found in Habakkuk). Also to note, the Psalms were not only meant to be read, but sung and Selah indicates a place of pause of rest. Reading aside, how much do we need to practice the art of Selah? Pausing, resting, meditating. It’s a "life" verb we need to use more often.
Disclaimer- the NIV version does not use Selah within the actual text but in the footnotes. Also a quick tip, if you want something to stick out of your Bible, like the top of my fern here, but don’t want it messed up, cover the edges with packing tape! No more worries! MATERIALS:

"Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD! Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies." -Psalm 25:6-10 In the Septuagint, a collection of ancient Greek translations of Old Testament books, the word is primarily translated by the Greek word for “mercy,” but several other words are also used, including the words for “righteousness,” “grace,” “glory,” and “hope.” The words that parallel hesed in the Hebrew text also reflect a broad semantic range stretching from “faithfulness” and “goodness” to “strength” and “salvation.” In English Bibles, hesed is translated with a variety of words, including “kindness,” “#love,” “steadfast love,” “loyalty,” “favor,” “devotion,” “mercy," and even "pity.
. HESED (#H2617) reflects the divine covenant relationship between man and God where the true love is not dependent on us, but on Him. Regardless of who we are, His love and grace and mercy is dependent on His character- not ours. His love is perfect because He is perfect. How much more we should honor and serve Him with everything we have in light of this information! How can you contain such wonderful news to yourself?! MATERIALS:
